Creating Self-Confidence!

Throughout this book we have been discussing the various aspects of what it takes to recognize, define and uncover all related aspects of confidence and how it impacts every area of your life.  In this section I will present a number of strategies to help you build a foundation for long-time, enduring confidence.  This is the meat and potatoes section of this book! This is a do-it-for-yourself project that will bring you a lifetime of self-fulfillment and joy.  The reason that I know this to be true is that I have seen it created first-hand thousands of times with my athletes, clients and friends!

We will start by taking a look at the seven steps of the confidence pyramid.  These are foundations that I happen to believe are important and are reinforced by the professional literature on confidence and self-efficacy.  In order to create a high level of confidence for yourself, it is also important that you be honest with yourself and what it is that you really want to achieve.  Many people talk about having goals and setting all types of priority goals in their lives but fail to comply with what they intended to do in the first place.  The result is that they never get to where they want to go!  I do not want that to happen to you.  So, I have created a roadmap, a strategy template that will hand-carry you from one dimension to another.   I have identified seven different dimensions that all comprise the trait and ability level of confidence.  I call them the Seven Layers of Confidence.   The 7 Layers of that comprise the Confidence Performance Pyramid are:  1. Curiosity 2. Competence   3.Composure  4. Concentration  5. Control 6. Commitment and Compliance 7. Trust.

These seven layers indicate areas that each plays a significant role in the development, creation and maintenance of long term, enduring confidence.  I will present each component and provide questions and confidence building assignments to help you understand the meaning and importance of that particular component.  At the end of this section, you will have the tools to generate a feeling of being competent, self-assured and a general overall sense of personal control for dealing with anything that comes your way!

So, dig in and find some of your golden nuggets and create a gold rush of confidence for yourself!
